West Texas Adventures!

Yep, that's what I said, West Texas!  The spot on the map is Midland.  I learned in Bible Study last week from a classmate that means, Land of No Trees.  And that's about right.  But, what is lacking in landscape, such as what I enjoyed in  Kerrville, people certainly try to make up for it with a smile and a welcome.  But, you know, that's what I have enjoyed wherever I have lived.  I'm not an army brat, but I've done my share of moving...but, all in Texas!  So, I am endeavoring to bloom where I am planted.  God reigns in my life, so I receive what I need to live my purpose.

The past 2 weeks I have worked hard to complete Tangle pieces for the Four Woman Tangle Show in Kerrville at the KACC.  I hope you can plan to stop by at the Artists Reception on May 3rd, Saturday from 1:00-3:00 pm.  I think we are going to have a very interesting show for you to feast your eyes on! (Here's a sneak preview of a few of my pieces, shhhhh)

I'd like to introduce you to the other three artists.  First let just say this Art Show is about Zentangle Inspired Art pieces. This is a meditative art form that has been developed by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas called Zentangle®.  Be sure to check out their website, www.zentangle.com, for more info.

Kristi is an amazing artist in every respect!  She's musical, drums and keyboard, and paints with acrylics.  She has really latched on to tangling!  She is going to Rhode Island in November to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher (just like her big sister...me!  :)  Anyone who purchases her pieces will be helping her fund her trip.  This is a very expensive seminar, but so totally worth it!  Kristi is a member of the Bastrop Art Guild and shows and sells pieces there.  She will have some of her tangled boxes at our show.  These boxes are each unique and one of a kind, totally HOT pieces.  She can hardly keep up with demand.  So, check them out early while they are available.

Jerica Glick is an Education Major at Texas Women's University.  She plans to teach Science and English as a Second Language.  Jerica is an amazing young woman.  She created Jeans for Jesse in high school.  This was to honor her close friend Jesse who lost her battle to cancer.  This was such a huge project!  They sold used jeans to raise money for the Children's Medical Center in Dallas. Even celebrities like Ellen Degeneras donated jeans.  In her senior year at Dr. John D Horn HS in Mesquite, TX, she was awarded two leadership awards The Principal's Award and The Light House Award. Now she's raising funds for a mission trip in June to Spain . Jerica is also a professional photographer.  All of the photographs are hers.  She has a very unique, individual way of capturing her subject. Jerica is so talented and giving.  (psst....she plays the harp!)  Jerica is one my other sister's daughter.  I hope you will get a chance to meet her at the reception!  In fact, all three sisters and my mother will be at the reception, they will all enjoy meeting you!

My friend Pris Wright is one of my previous Tangle Students.  She has a bent toward black and white abstract in previous art pieces.  I think you will enjoy her use of tangles. Pris is a retired School Administrator and now works with colleges doing supervision for students in addition to her art.  She has recently relocated to Ft. Worth from Kerrville to be closer to her family.  She also has plans to attend the Certified Zentangle Teacher seminar.

I am looking forward to a great exhibit.  Hope to see you there!
